The Funk Master Fires Shots At Russian Champion

The ‘Funk Master’, Aljamain Sterling, 19W 3L, is pulling no punches on his quest for gold, as he takes shots at Russia’s UFC Bantamweight Champion, Petr Yan, 15W 1L. Sterling is calling Yan a paper champ due to his resume of past opponents, specifically how not one of them are in the top 5 of their division. The UFC believes Yan earned that title in defeating a former champion in Jose Aldo, 28W 7L. which is a great argument. Aldo is still dangerous, and recently finished two top guys in a heavier division, as well as losing a split decision to the number one contender, Marlon Moraes, 23W 6L 1Dr. Dana White as well as many other fighters believed Aldo won that fight, so it’s no surprise why it might have been a bone thrown to Aldo. Yan finished Aldo in a devastating fashion, however the Funk Master is not impressed, and feels he should be the number one contender in front of Moraes, since Moraes was “considered” the loser in his last bout against Aldo. The Funk Master makes a great argument, especially after coming off that dominating submission victory against Cory Sandhagen, 12W 2L, as well as being on a 5-fight win streak. You’re only as good as your last fight, and the Funk Master just had 5 of them! The UFC still doesn’t know what to do for Yan’s next opponent, even after Yan himself stated he thinks Sterling should be next. After all these shots fired from Sterling, as well as being called out by Yan, and being on a 5-fight win streak, it’s only a matter of time before the UFC grants Sterling a shot at the Russian Champion.

“Paper Yan is a paper champion. His resume is single ply, too thin to even wipe my ass with it 🧻 Hasn’t beaten a single guy in the top five. So you know I’m coming on that 🍑 no tissues….pause!☝🏾🎒” – Sterling on Instagram – Photos By @funkmastermma On IG
