It was March 3, 2018, UFC 222 was on the box as we were gearing up for a featherweight championship main event. Yana “Foxy”Kunitskaya, 12W 5L, former Invicta FC bantamweight champion, was making her UFC debut against the most dangerous woman in the division, Cris Cyborg, 22W 2L 1NC. Foxy, fighting out of Saint Petersburg Russia, turned out to be a formidable opponent as she aggressively took Cyborg down at the opening of the first round. Cyborg would still go on to win the match, however that night we all learned a lot about Foxy Kunistkaya. Foxy started her martial arts career doing taekwondo at a very early age. Word on the Russian streets was she was knocking out girls and boys at some of her tournaments. She began competing hand to hand combat at 12 years old for Armeyskiy Rukopashniy Boy (ARB). This was only the beginning of her martial arts journey, by the time she was 18 she started training MMA. Throughout her MMA career she continued to progress in other arts such as Muay Thai, and jiu-jitsu under Greg Jackson (Gaidojutso). Since her match with Cyborg, I’ve taken it upon myself to start following Foxy’s Instagram account and she is an amazing athlete. Very fan friendly, responds to a lot of her post messages, even genuinely responded to a few of mine. On August 17, 2019 she posted a picture of her and Thiago “Marreta” Santos together on her Instagram.

This was posted on Foxy’s Instagram August 17, 2019, which if your familiar with numbers, the number 17 is associated with a high spiritual engagement when it comes to relationships. When this number is seen, it draws a specific type of person, a type that has been in tune with their higher being; it draws that person to a higher spiritual realm. The Universe tends to help guide those that are in tune with their spirit and it appears both Foxy and Santos are well in tuned with theirs. In many other aspects and beliefs the number 17 is also associated with new beginnings. It’s said it was on the 17th day that Noah finally landed the arc after the great flood, then started the new World. It’s very possible we are witnessing a soulmate connection in the making, and I think everyone will embrace this given the circumstances we’ve all been forced to withstand for year 2020.

Speaking of Thiago “Marreta Santos, 21W 7L, who happens to be one of the scariest guys in the light heavyweight division, he recently lost a razor sharp split decision against the champion himself, Jon “Bones” Jones, at UFC 239 on July 6, 2019. Many fans and analysts argued he should have gone home with the belt that night. Santos blew both his knees out early in the fight, and like an instinctual animal still brought the fight to Jones. Since then he’s had surgery on both knees and appears to have made a full recovery. Before Santos fought Jones, he was on a 4 fight win streak, 3 of those earning him performance bonuses in which he finished his opponents. Santos was born in Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil and started his martial arts training doing Capoeira. As a kid growing up he suffered from an unknown disease in his stomach that needed to be surgically removed. His family didn’t have much, and after losing everything to a flood, they became homeless for quite sometime. At one point him and his family had nothing, yet he still came out successful from poverty which says a lot about his character. Before his mixed martial arts career Santos was a paratrooper in the Brazilian military. He had his first MMA fight in 2010 and won 7 in a row early in his career. He’s a master in Muay Thai and also holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He made his official UFC debut in 2013, after being a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2, in which he made it to the quarterfinals. A very humble warrior that never talks trash, but horrifically knocks people out, just ask Jimi Manuwa. And as I stated earlier, Santos and Foxy have connected; they appear to be in quarantine together training, and also in love. There are some great training videos between the two of them posted on Foxy’s IG. Two of the most elite competitors in mixed martial arts dating; its like watching Batman with Wonder Woman. Can you name a more dynamic duo that would come out the favor if they had to be matched up together for a tag-team competition?
